About the event
In this two day module we will identify patterns of movement in the pelvis and how they affect the rest of the body’s structure above and below. We will become familiar with extreme expressions of pelvic tilts and possible unhealthy consequences of overly exaggerated positioning on the muscles, vital organs, and sense of wellbeing including low back pain and sciatica.
Using the framework of the pelvis, we can take an x-ray vision approach to the way the skeletal system of the body functions optimally freeing up the muscles for respiration in the diaphragm. An anatomical approach from the inside out will also solidify the understanding of pose architecture, the way we can identify specific features of asana. Attention to the pelvis provides the introduction to the three primary energy channels in the body, the Nadi-s, and how the life force energy of Prana travels throughout form. We will inspect the structures of Classical Yoga through the foundation of yoga ethics described in the sutra of Yama and Niyama on and off the mat.
